Dog Food and Water
The concept of Canine Cuisine by Chris is a simple one: a personal chef for your dog.  Pets have limited options when it comes to diet, and must rely on their owner to make the choice for them.

Here's how the service works -

  • Based on information you provide about your dog (breed, age, weight, etc.), I will formulate a customized weekly meal plan containing ingredients that will be most beneficial to the dog.
  • We will set up an appointment that will include meeting your dog and discussing what your dog will be eating and why.
  • One day a week I will deliver a week’s worth of food (vacuum sealed in daily portions) to your home that will need to be refrigerated.  Details surrounding the delivery and preparation will also be discussed.  Preparation involves cutting open a bag and placing in a clean food dish.  Each portion will be labeled with dog's name, directions, and day to use.

Customized Meals

Canine Cuisine by Chris does what commercial dog food cannot, and that is customize the diet and develop recipes specifically to your dog’s individual needs, taking into account:

Food Pyramid
  • Individual energy requirements according to breed and age
  • Nutritional needs based on breed and age
  • Essential nutrients for life stage
  • Specific ingredients & how those ingredients may or may not benefit the dog
  • Interaction of essential nutrients & relationship to optimize usage
  • How cooking techniques will impact the nutritional value of the ingredients

Pricing

Pricing will be based on a weekly service fee between $75 and $100 a week, depending on how many dogs you have, their location, and food costs.  Once we agree that the meal plan is effective for your dog, the price will remain the same each week.  Every dog is different, so final pricing will depend of the specific dietary needs of each individual dog.  A 150 pound dog living 30 miles away will be more expensive than a 10 pound dog living a mile away. Food cost will be more for pregnant dogs and/or dogs with special dietary needs due to health issues, gestation or lactation, puppies, severe allergies, etc.

The weekly fee covers the cost of the following -

  • Labor (formulating recipes, packaging the food, preparing the food, and delivering the food)
  • Food Ingredients (Typically, dogs up to 10 pounds will cost about a $1 a day while a 70 pound dog will cost about $3-$5 a day. )
  • Packaging Materials

Quality Control

Quality control in a restaurant environment generally means the control of sanitation and the preservation of nutritional value of ingredients from the time of purchase until it reaches the mouth.  Quality control starts with choosing fresh ingredients and continues all the way through the food packaging, delivery, and preparation.

Studious Dog

Canine Cuisine by Chris follows the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) method to ensure that proper sanitation methods are used to correctly purchase, handle, store, prepare, cook, and package food.  The HACCP method is used by restaurants to ensure compliance with sanitation and heath codes.

Each ingredient is tracked individually to monitor the process from purchase to the final product delivery.  Starting off with fresh ingredients is the first step.  Next, proper storage is used until the time of preparation.  The proper handling of foods such as chicken is extremely important in order to prevent cross contamination.  Cooking the ingredients until the right temperature is reached is just as important as cooling the product to the correct temperature.  Finally, proper packaging must be used to further ensure freshness and shelf life. Specific directions are provided to ensure that what you are putting in your dog’s body is both beneficial and safe to eat.
